Axel saw nothing but red as his fist connected with Lewisâ face. Admittedly, he was using the other man to release a lot of pent-up anger, and Lewis had brought it all on himself by having the sheer nerve to call his girlfriend a bitch.
It had been a fairly simple day. No one had lost their minds in the city enough to warrant SWAT being needed. For the most part, they just sat around all day, filling out reports, some of them going down to the shooting range.
For some reason, that tone could not be kept the entire day, and two hours from Axel being able to leave, Sanchez decided that he wanted to start on his bullshit and try to dictate what everyone should have been doing.
As usual, his words were ignored, they all pretty much felt that if their captain didnât have an issue with what was taking place, then there was no reason to listen to someone who got their promotion simply because of the length of time theyâd be in the department instead of their skill.
At some point, he must have gotten fed up with people not listening to him and made it his mission to go around and speak to them all individually; even after their captain told him to sit down somewhere like the child he tended to act like.
Sanchezâs voice had been grating on Axelâs nerves the entire time heâd been talking. So, when the other man didnât take their captainâs advice and tried to approach Axel, heâd gotten a few choice words from Axel reiterating that he needed to go and sit down somewhere and added on âlike a good kidâ.
Needless to say, the two of them had more words, and Axel was sure it probably would have come to blows if it wasnât for other members of the squad stepping between them.
Now, here he was, going blow for blow with Lewis. Each of them threw punches, and while Axel was landing all of his, he couldnât say that Lewis wasnât at least landing a few, but a one-sided fight had never been Axelâs style, and there wasnât any fun in it.
Axel felt someone pulling him away from Lewis as someone else pulled the other man, separating them. He shook the person off, turning to find that it was Sanchez, and his instincts immediately caused him to swing and hit the other man with a left. He would later blame it on adrenaline when asked, but at the moment, he was going to get as many licks in as possible.
Unfortunately for Axel, Sanchez didnât seem to want any parts of the fight he was attempting to start. More than likely because the other man didnât want to get suspended, but Axel wasnât worried about that. Heâd take a suspension. Without pay even, because it would be well worth it to have punched the annoying ass man in front of him.
Once he realized that Sanchez was simply taking his blows while attempting to block, he stopped hitting him.
